About Motiva Implants

Motiva implants can improve the shape of your breasts and increase their volume. After aging, weight loss, and pregnancy, many patients experience changes to their breasts that affect their proportions. Motiva implants provide natural-looking volume and they can address breast asymmetry, as well, for a more balanced appearance. If you have hypoplasia—a condition characterized by asymmetry, and breasts that are spaced far apart–Motiva implants can balance your proportions and enhance your appearance. (3)

Mini Implants

If you would like a smaller cup size increase, we can enhance the appearance of your breasts with mini implants for natural-looking volume. These low-projection implants can subtly reshape the breasts for lasting, beautiful results.

Motiva Benefits

TrueMonobloc® Construction

TrueMonobloc® technology provides a cohesive silicone gel that helps the implant last longer while reducing the risk of complications. The FDA-approved design has less than a 1% risk of complications (2), making it a better option for patients who have experienced complications with implants in the past. If you have a history of capsular contracture, the risk is lower with Motiva. The implants maintain their shape while providing a natural look without the risk of rippling and deflation, which is common with older models.

Advanced SuperSilicone® Gel

The elastic silicone gel that fills Motiva implants is highly cohesive and mimics the natural feel of breast tissue. You can enjoy implants that move fluidly and naturally with body movements. If you have thin skin and a limited amount of breast tissue, Motiva can provide a larger cup size increase compared to other implants because the innovative technology decreases the risk of rippling.

Motiva Silk Smooth Implants

Motiva implants’ smooth surface is manufactured with Microthane®, a type of nanotexturing that lowers the risk of capsular contracture. The smooth surface provides outstanding aesthetic benefits for patients who wish to increase the volume of their breasts with an implant designed for comfort and durability.

BluSeal® Safety Coating

Motiva implants also contain a biocompatible seal that helps your surgeon quickly identify any inconsistencies in the integrity of the implant shell. After custom-ordering the implant, your surgeon will carefully examine the shell to confirm the implant’s quality.

Types of Motiva Implants

Motiva SmoothSilk® Round

Motiva SmoothSilk® Round implants can increase your breasts’ projection for fuller-looking cleavage. They are filled with a firm silicone gel, ProgressiveGel Plus, which fills out the upper pole of the breast for a natural-looking, plump appearance. The firmer implant is ideal for patients who prefer more breast projection, a rounder breast shape, and natural-looking cleavage.

Motiva SmoothSilk Ergonomix2®

Motiva SmoothSilk Ergonomix2® implants take on a teardrop shape when standing and a round shape when lying down. They contain a slightly more flexible ProgressiveGel Ultima silicone gel that is more dynamic than ProgressiveGel Plus. ProgressiveGel Ultima mimics the movement of natural breasts for beautiful volume. The sloped shape fills the lower breast pole for a softer look and more definition along the lower breast fold (inframammary crease).

Candidates

Suitable candidates for Motiva are typically nonsmokers in good overall health who have realistic expectations about their aesthetic goals. Candidates must have fully developed breasts and be 18 years of age or older. If you have a history of capsular contracture, weight loss, and/or pregnancy, well-tolerated implants can transform your appearance with minimal risk or downtime. Motiva’s TrueMonobloc® technology reduces the risk of complications and is designed for comfort.

Consultation

During your consultation, we will ask about your aesthetic goals and perform a physical exam to determine the best size and shape for your implants. We will choose the best placement for the implants to help you achieve your desired look. We will also ask about your lifestyle, medical history, and medications. Please come prepared with any questions about the implants during your consultation. To learn more about breast lifts, see the blog!

If you recently lost weight, we can also discuss additional treatments, such as a breast augmentation lift to remove excess skin to rebalance your proportions. Many patients are unprepared for the excess skin they are left with after weight loss, especially in intimate areas. We can perform several body contouring procedures during a single appointment to help you accentuate your curves for a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance with lasting results.

Preparation & Procedure

To prepare to receive Motiva implants, you will need to stop taking medications and supplements that thin the blood. If you smoke, you will need to quit temporarily, and stop drinking alcohol 24 hours before the procedure as well. You will also need to arrange for someone to drive you home afterward.

During the procedure, we will cleanse your skin, and you will receive anesthesia. Your surgeon will make a thin incision along the natural curves of your breasts to create a pocket for the implant. The type of incision you receive will depend on the size and shape of the implant you receive for your aesthetic goals, and we can place Motiva implants with smaller incisions along the inframammary fold, underneath the breast.

Your surgeon will make a close-fitting pocket for the breast implant and place it either above or below the chest muscle, depending on your desired look. You may also receive a deep suture to hold the implant in place, reducing the risk of the implant shifting, also known as “bottoming out.”

Recovery

After your procedure, you will need to rest, and you can expect some swelling or tenderness afterward. Most patients can resume their daily routine a few days after receiving implants as long as they avoid intense physical activity. Most patients can return to work after one week, depending on the physical demands of their job. We will let you know when you can resume work and physical exercise during your follow-up appointment.
