Plastic surgery is becoming more popular with men as they seek out ways to retain their youth and enhance their natural features. Cosmetic procedures have recently gained popularity among men due to societal change and some recent studies showing a correlation between attractiveness and career success. Studies also show that attractive people are more likely to undergo positive job interviews as well as pay raises. Today, more men are receiving plastic surgery to improve their physique while benefiting their career.
A popular choice for men to receive is liposuction. Liposuction is a procedure that reduces stubborn fat deposits that are impervious to healthy eating and exercise. You no longer need to be frustrated with difficult fat along with your waist, liposuction offers an excellent solution. It is important to note that liposuction is not meant to reduce significant amounts of weight, but rather to help you achieve a slimmer frame or improved muscle definition.
Traditional Liposuction has greatly improved since the 1970s. Traditional liposuction techniques have been developed and tested for decades to provide cutting-edge, safe techniques. At Millard Plastic Surgery’s state-of-the-art office, we offer the full selection of advanced liposuction techniques. Each technique uses a unique technology to provide significant results. Millard Plastic Surgery offers the four main types of these advanced techniques.
- 1 Suction-Assisted Liposuction (SAL)
- 2 Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (UAL)
- 3 Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL)
- 4 Laser-Assisted Liposuction (LAL)
- 5 SAFELipo Liposuction
- 6 Liposuction for Gynecomastia Treatment
- 7 Love Handle Contouring
- 8 Abdomen Sculpting
Suction-Assisted Liposuction (SAL)
SAL uses a thin cannula topped with an aspirator, or suction device, to remove fat deposits.
This form of liposuction is the most similar to the form created in the ’70s. However, improvements in technology have enhanced the cannulas used in these procedures.
Performed on its own, suction-assisted liposuction can damage surrounding tissues. This may increase bruising, swelling and recovery time. It is also a straining technique as it requires a surgeon to move their wrist back-and-forth for a long period of time. When used in addition to an advanced form of lipo, SAL can be effective and healthy.
Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (UAL)
UAL uses ultrasound vibrations to rupture fat cells. The fat cells are essentially liquefied, making them easier to remove and causing less trauma to your tissues. This form of liposuction is a great option for the male breasts or upper back which are tougher, more fibrous areas. Millard Plastic Surgery offers the three following forms of UAL that are used to remove fat cells and liposculpture the body.
Vaser technology has successfully been in use for more than a decade. It has been tweaked and tested to be the safe treatment we know today. The Vaser system uses a combination of either one, two or three-ring ultrasound probes, helping to significantly reduce any damage to connective tissues, blood vessels and other structures in the treatment area. This treatment provides safe, consistent results. With precise movements, Dr. Millard is able to reduce fat in multiple layers and resculpt your body to a masculine shape. This technique, along with slimming down your body, also provides skin tightening results.
Vaser 5-Ring Probe Atraumatic Fat Removal Technology
This form of UAL was created by Dr. Millard. This form of liposuction has many included benefits such as less bruising, less blood loss, faster recovery, impressive results, less risk of post-irregularities and less discomfort. An increased number of rings allows the Vaser 5-Ring Probe to achieve these impressive results.
4D Vaser Hi Def Liposuction
This form of UAL is similar to Vaser Hi Def liposuction except that it also includes fat grafting. This element allows Dr. Millard to sculpt and define areas of your body with a greater degree to precision.
Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL)
PAL utilizes a device that uses vibrations to dislodge fat cells from surrounding tissues. This form of liposuction is effective and precise. A mechanical cannula is used to assist Dr. Millard. The cannula moves back-and-forth on its own, allowing Dr. Millard to limit wrist movement and improve the effectiveness of the treatment.
Laser-Assisted Liposuction (LAL)
SmartLipo is a very common form of laser-assisted liposuction to the degree where they are nearly synonymous. This advanced form of liposuction uses a precise laser to improve the safety and results of patients. There are some fundamental differences between SmartLipo and traditional liposuction that make this technique stand out. Traditionally, general anesthesia and sedation needed to be used when performing liposuction, leading to possible complications.
SmartLipo can be performed under local anesthesia, allowing patients to stay awake during the treatment. SmartLipo also only requires miniscule incisions for the cannula and laser to enter the treatment area. You can enjoy less visible scarring and, because of the heat administered, tighter skin. Bruising is also minimal when completed with less invasive techniques, improving your recovery time and surrounding tissue health. In traditional liposuction, the surgeon would need to manually break apart fat cells, causing damage to surrounding tissues and potential irregularities in the skin after healing. The SmartLipo laser liquefies fat cells, improving treatment time and the skin’s surface.
SmartLipo is commonly performed on patients who have small areas of fat to remove so they can have a more defined, taut body.
This form of LAL uses a three-step method to provide incredible results. The first step involves a specific cannula, along with PAL, to separate fat cells from surrounding tissues without damaging the surrounding tissues, nerves and blood vessels. The second step removes the fat with a very thin cannula. And lastly, the third step levels the remaining fat cells so no irregularities or depressions are left over. The combination of these three steps will give your body contoured, attractive results.
These forms of liposuction can help you re-sculpt your body to obtain a defined six-pack or a more trim waistline. Male lipo can return your youthful, masculine frame in no time.
The above liposuction techniques involve the use of tumescent fluid. Tumescent fluid is an advanced combination of lidocaine, epinephrine and saline solution that make liposuction incredibly safe and effective. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic commonly used to numb areas before minimally invasive procedures. Epinephrine is a form of adrenalin that, when injected into a certain area, helps to restrict blood vessels.
The combination of all three of these elements allows the patient to stay safely awake during the procedure, an ideal option compared to general anesthesia and sedation.
Tumescent fluid also improves the efficacy of removing fat cells. The injected area will become firm and swollen from the fluid, helping to make the fat cells easy to remove. This also helps produce less damage to nerves, blood vessels and tissues the fat was anchored to. Liposuction that implements tumescent fluid results in less bruising and swelling due to the constricted blood vessels and resulting reduced blood loss.
Liposuction can be performed all over the body, on areas such as the arms, chest, axilla, the back, buttocks, thighs, knees, calves, ankles, flanks, waist, stomach, and breasts. Male liposuction is commonly performed along the chest, love handles, and abdomen. These procedures help to improve your frame while maintaining your natural male features.
Liposuction for Gynecomastia Treatment
Men commonly receive “man boob” reductions using liposuction. A male chest liposuction treatment efficiently reduces excess fat to provide a defined male chest. This can greatly improve a man’s confidence and self-image. A liposuction “man boobs” treatment will reduce the appearance of overdeveloped breast tissue and help you be more comfortable with your body.
Male breast liposuction treatments are performed by creating thin incisions in discrete areas. Through this small incision, Dr. Millard will use the above technique to reduce fat and re-sculpt your chest to reflect a masculine appearance. These treatments may last for over an hour and recovery will take a few weeks. Once complete though you can enjoy the benefits of a manly profile and boosted confidence!
Love Handle Contouring
Liposuction for love handles procedure will help you achieve a trim waist. This treatment often restores the proportions of patient’s bodies and improves their self-image. Love handles, or flanks, cause unattractive muffin tops. With small incisions, an effective lipo treatment and some rest, you will improve the transition of the upper body to lower body, smoothing out the frame and improving the masculine shape.
Liposuction is commonly performed along the abdomen and mid body section so as to create a trim, flat stomach and defined abs.
However, liposuction for men’s belly fat not generally recommended as belly fat is a form of fat referred to as visceral fat. This fat is hard and forms around the internal organs, meaning it is inaccessible by liposuction.
Too much of this fat is very unhealthy and can lead to diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and many more. Liposuction cannot improve belly fat but it can improve the surface layer of fat just under your skin, referred to as subcutaneous fat. Once removed, you will enhance the appearance of your muscles and feel confident going shirtless in no time!
Men receive liposuction in many different areas of their bodies to improve their appearance and feel good! You no longer need to be frustrated with those difficult fat deposits. Liposuction can help you look your best in no time. Obtain the chiseled body you’ve always wanted at Millard Plastic Surgery.
