The ideal look for men is the same today as it was when Michelangelo created his David. What has changed in the past few years is the number of men opting for plastic surgeries.

Dr. Millard’s pioneering efforts in VASER Hi Def (a procedure he brought to the United States in 2005) was one of the major breakthrough surgeries that saw a rapid increase in men pursuing plastic surgery procedures to improve their appearance.

With new procedures and technological advances that promise natural-looking results and less downtime, both men and women have increased confidence in the skills of their plastic and cosmetic surgeons.

The doctor must take into account factors such as skin thickness, beard growth, and body type. Dr. Millard recognized that the male aesthetic requires a different approach. His success is a testament to the unique approach he provides his male patients.

Liposculpture

What does ‘liposculpture’ mean? Liposculpture requires formal training in “Artistic Anatomy” by a surgeon to successfully ‘lipo-sculpt’ a physique.

It is assumed by patients, that plastic and cosmetic surgeons get this training as part of their residency or fellowship training. Unfortunately, nearly all cosmetic training programs have no formal training in “Artistic Anatomy.”

In fact, it was Dr. Millard that spearheaded the “Artistic Anatomy” training program. This was designed so that practicing VASER Hi Def surgeons would have the knowledge to safely and effectively perform liposuction.

Male Fat Anatomy

As men age, the body inevitably accumulates fat in certain areas. This happens in men despite the fact that they maintain a vigorous work-out regimen. In fact, short of starving oneself, with each decade of aging, it becomes harder and harder to maintain that fit appearance many of us had as teenagers or in our early 20’s. The abdomen, the flanks (or ‘love handles’), the chin and neck, and even the breast area (with a condition called gynecomastia), are all likely problem areas that are resistant to diet and exercise.

VASER Hi Def

Pioneered and brought to the United States by Dr. Millard in 2005, VASER Hi Def allows surgeons to now target fat areas besides deep fat. Traditional methods of liposuction were only able to target deep fat areas.

Your surgeon must have an appreciation for the artistic form of the human body. Understanding what fat to remove from a particular muscle group and what fat cells to leave to provide a tailored 3-dimensional result.

VASER Hi Def technique has been extended to virtually every region of a man’s body, including the neck, shoulders and arms, torso (Abdomen, flanks and back, axilla and mons pubis area), buttocks and the legs.

Lasting Results

The results of VASER Hi Def lipo are stable as long as the patient continues a lifestyle that includes eating well and being active. For patients who may need help on how to begin to lead a life rich in health and wellness, Dr. Millard has provided a place for you to receive the tools you need to maintain a stunning surgical result.

We can also refer you to personal trainers, a nutritionist and a medical spa which are all located within our building making it easy and accessible for you to begin a life long journey toward increased self esteem and wellness.

4D VASER Hi Def

The next generation of VASER Hi Def technique, invented by Dr. Millard, and most recently featured in a plastic surgery textbook on body sculpting. Dr. Millard combined the techniques of VASER Hi Def with use of the patient’s own fat (Fat Grafting) to further refine and improve results.

Abdominoplasty (or “Tummy Tuck”) For Men

If you have good skin elasticity and only a moderate amount of excess abdominal fat, you may benefit from liposuction alone. Dr. Millard will let you know what procedure would benefit you the most at your consultation.

An abdominoplasty, or a “tummy tuck”, is an effective procedure for men who have hanging abdominal skin (which usually occurs after massive weight loss), loose abdominal muscles, or neglected hernias. An abdominoplasty removes excess fat, tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall, and trims the waistline. Incisions are made in the lower abdomen, and are well hidden.

Dr. Millard has successfully integrated VASER Hi Def into both, Full-Abdominoplasties (Full Tummy Tuck) and Mini-Abdominoplasties (Mini Tummy Tuck). Prior to doing this Dr. Millard trained with one of the world’s experts in lip-abdominoplasty, Dr. Ted Lockwood, whom some consider the father of the lipo-abdominoplasty (Lipo-Tummy Tuck).

Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)

Enlarged male breasts, more commonly referred to as “Man Boobs” is a common condition, affecting 40-60% of men.

Gynecomastia Causes

The cause of gynecomastia is really unknown, although some studies have correlated the condition to various drugs or medical conditions. However, much of what is thought to be Gynecomastia is really what would and should be called Pseudogynecomastia or Lipodystrophy of the chest and axilla (armpit).

This means that there is a hereditary reason for some men to accumulate excess fat in the chest, disproportionately compared to other parts of ones body. In fact it isn’t uncommon for this to be sern in several generations of our male patients. Many report having fathers, uncles and brothers with the same condition.

Gynecomastia Procedure

A breast reduction procedure removes fat and/or glandular tissue from the breasts. Gynecomastia surgery can also remove excess skin in the breast area. This results in a flatter, firmer, more contoured chest.

Sculpt Your Chest

Your gynecomastia surgeon (if properly trained) can also inject fat back into specific areas of your pectoral muscle helping to make it appear more defined and distinct. If you have questions about male pectoral augmentation please contact our office for more information.

Neck Surgery

Men considering neck surgery will have their entire head-face-neck region evaluated by Dr. Millard. He will look to see if your hairline is receding, how full your sideburns are, and onto what areas of the face the beard-growing skin extends. He will also look for any sun-damaged skin, or loose or drooping neck skin.

Men may also be concerned about fatty or “jowly” areas beneath the chin. With younger patients, liposuction is many times enough to correct this problem.

Dr. Millard can discuss all of your options with you during your pre-consultation and review the specific (discrete) locations your incisions will be.

‘Refinishing’ Treatments for Facial / Neck Skin

After any Neck Procedure, you will be referred to our Skin Essentials @ bod:evolve department to incorporate a skin care regimen to help preserve your result. Our highly trained skin care team will recommend and design a personalized skin care plan that will include treatments and products. These treatments help to keep skin looking healthy, smooth and clean.

Testosterone Boost & Hormone Therapy

Men go through unnecessary aging ailments that deplete muscle mass, energy and sex drive. If that isn’t challenging enough, low testosterone can also increase your risk of heart disease and prostate cancer.

Testosterone therapy is given through injections, patches or gels and can be life changing. Experience a nearly immediate increase in libido, muscle mass, sharper memory and higher energy levels.

Testosterone levels decline approximately 1% a year after age 30 and Dr. Goldstein (bioidentical hormone therapy expert) can help to determine if your issues are escalated beyond normal. –Simple blood tests can determine your testosterone level.
